5 BJP MPs out of contention in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, Mar 23 (UNI) Five outgoing parliamentarians were not included among the 15 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates – including three ladies – announced for Madhya Pradesh on Saturday even as Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narendra Singh Tomar’s constituency was changed from Gwalior to Morena.
Mr Anoop Mishra, who represents Morena in the 16th Lok Sabha, was axed. The saffron party’s state President Rakesh Singh shall try his fortune again in Jabalpur from where he was elected in 2014. Others retained are Mr Uday Pratap Singh (Hoshangabad), Minister of State for Minority Affairs Virendra Kumar (Tikamgarh), Mr Ganesh Singh (Satna), erstwhile central minister Faggan Singh Kulaste (Mandla), Mr Nand Kumar Singh Chauhan (Khandwa), Mr Sudheer Gupta (Mandsour), Mr Prahlad Singh Patel (Damoh), Mr Janardan Mishra (Rewa) and Mrs Riti Pathak (Sidhi).
Fresh countenances were fielded from Bhind, Betul, Shahdol and Ujjain. Dr Bhagirath Prasad was not granted the Bhind ticket that instead went to Mrs Sandhya Rai. In Ujjain, former Tarana legislator Anil Firojiya replaced Prof Chintamani Malviya. Betul MP Jyoti Dhurve, who was in controversies vis-a-vis her caste certificate, was dropped in favour of Mr Durgadas Uikey. In Shahdol, Mrs Himadri Singh - who entered BJP ranks just a couple of days back after resigning from the Congress - is the nominee replacing Mr Gyan Singh.

Jammu, April 23 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo on Tuesday said the role of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) has become more important given the greater chances of fake news finding its way to public consumption.“The role of the department becomes even more important given the greater chances of fake and misinformation news finding its way to the public consumption,” the Chief Secretary said while undertaking a comprehensive review of the activities being carried out by the department regarding its public outreach with authentic information and dissemination of reliable news.
