48.42 pc voter turnout recorded in Jubilee Hills by-poll

Hyderabad, Nov 11 (UNI) A voter turnout of 48.42 per cent was recorded in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, which began at 0700 hours and concluded at 1800 hours on Tuesday.
According to the District Election Office, polling progressed steadily throughout the day with 9.2 per cent turnout recorded at 0900 hours, 31.94 per cent by 1300 hours, 40.20 per cent by 1500 hours and 47.16 per cent by 1700 hours, eventually reaching 48.42 per cent by the close of polling.
The by-election was necessitated by the death of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. Though 58 candidates contested, the main contest was between Maganti Sunitha of the BRS, Naveen Yadav of the Congress and Lankala Deepak Reddy of the BJP, with all three parties expressing confidence of victory.
