478th Maharana Pratap Jayanti celebrated at Kangra

Kangra, May 28 (UNI) Rajput community today resolved and reiterated their demand to scrape the present reservation policy on the caste basis and demanded reservation on economic basis for all castes. The demand was raised by Rajput Kalayan Sabha Jammu president Thakur Kunwar Narayan Singh while addressing a 478th Maharana Pratap Jayanti organised by Rajput Sabha here today. State Forest Corporation vice-chairman Kewal Singh Pathania, who was also the guest of honour on the occasion, said that Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhdra Singh has assured that Rs 48 lakhs will be given by him for installing a statute of Maharana Partap riding on his Chetak at Talwara in this district. Rajput Bhawans will be constructed at all the subdivisional headquarters in this district. Pathania said that Maharana Pratap was one of the greatest sons of India who fought relentlessly for the cause of the nation. His sufferings in the wake of his struggle for the lofty ideals of patriotism made him an unforgettable hero not only in his own land but all over the vast nation. Other speakers threw light on the life of Maharana Pratap and stressed on taking a cue from his life for the service of the nation and the society. Some prominent and outstanding personalities specialized in respective fields from different communities were also honoured by the Rajput Sabha on this occasion. Rajput Kalayan Board Chairman Thakur Kuldeep Singh announced that a school will be established by the Rajput community for imparting education to Rajput and other community students belonging to Below the Poverty line. He said that he will donate land for the school and will construct ten rooms for this institution. Earlier the members of the Rajput community paid floral tributes on the statute of Maha Rana Partap in the Rajput Bhawan in the town. UNI XC SB 2054
