46.29 pc polling till 3 pm in first phase of Bihar Assembly Elections

Patna, Oct 28 (UNI) Altogether 46.29 per cent electorate exercised their franchise till 3
pm on Wednesday as polling ended in the Naxal-hit 30 Assembly constituencies between 3 pm and 4 pm, while polling continued in 41 of total 71 seats during first phase of Bihar Assembly Elections.
Voting picked up after noon as more people came out of their homes to exercise their franchise.
Polling came to an end at 3 pm in some seats while in some other seats, it ended at 4 pm due to security reasons as these constituencies are Naxalite-affected.
According to information made available by office of Chief Electoral Officer, highest polling of 56.95 per cent was recorded in Chakai constituency while minimum polling of 38.5 per cent was recorded in Sandesh constituency.
In Ramgarh constituency, 56.3 per cent electorate exercised their franchise.
In Tekari consistency, Congress candidate Suman Kumar was attacked but he escaped unhurt. His vehicle was damaged but no injury was inflicted on Mr Kumar, police said adding that the matter is being investigated.
Polling remained peaceful so far as there was no report of untoward incident. Only incidents of minor clash were reported at some places, police informed.
