44 die in UP due to hailstorm

Lucknow, Apr 12 (UNI) A total of 44 people have died so far in 18 districts, after a heavy hail storm struck several parts of Uttar Pradesh.
However, the state government has made arrangements for adequate compensation to the affected families in total 28 districts of the state, which witnessed heavy hailstorm on Wednesday.
Officials here on Thursday confirmed that 44 people have died in 18 districts of western UP, while over 100 were injured in the natural calamity.
Agriculture produce up to 25 per cent was also damaged in the hail storm.

Of the casualty, highest 15 deaths were reported from Agra district, followed by four each in Ferozabad and Mathura, three in Unnao, two each in Faizabad, Barabanki and Lakhimpur Kheri, while one each was reported from Bijnore, Shahjahanpur, Gonda, Kushinagar, Lalitpur, Rae Bareli, Hapur, Mirzapur, Sonebhadra, Jaunpur and Ballia.
Around 37 people were injured in Agra and 14 in Ferozabad, besides three in Mathura.

Taking immediate step, the state government sanctioned Rs 8.05 crore for these districts, to be distributed as compensation for the affected families, sources said here.
