406 people donate blood at camp organised at Lok Bhavan on Jharkhand Governor’s directions

Ranchi, Jan 12 (UNI) On the directions of the Governor of Jharkhand, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, a Blood Donation Camp was organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Jharkhand State Branch, at Birsa Mandap, Lok Bhavan, Ranchi, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great philosopher and visionary Swami Vivekananda (National Youth Day). A total of 406 people voluntarily donated blood during the camp.
Prior to inaugurating the Blood Donation Camp, the Governor paid floral tribute to the portrait of Swami Vivekananda and offered tribute. On the occasion, he said that the ideals and thoughts of Swami Vivekananda continue to inspire the youth even today, and that service to humanity is the true service to God.
Describing blood donation as one of the highest and noblest humanitarian acts, the Governor said that the unavailability of blood at the right time often puts precious lives at risk. Therefore, it is essential to transform blood donation into a mass movement so that adequate availability of all blood groups can be ensured in the state. He stated that continuous efforts have been made under his guidance to revive and strengthen the Jharkhand Red Cross Society, which had remained dormant for years, and expressed confidence that the institution would emerge as a strong symbol of service, trust, and sensitivity in society. He also informed that blood donation camps would soon be organised in universities and colleges across the state.
