4 charred to death in cylinder blast in house celebrating wedding

Mandi, July 23 (UNI) Five persons were burnt alive at Ner Chowk, near Mandi last night around 2 AM when a domestic gas cylinder blasted in a house where many guests had arrived to attend a marriage.

Those killed have been identified as Narender Soni SDO aged 67 years, his wife Veena aged 63 years, Monika aged 35 years and Sain aged 7 years.

Ner Chowk plunged into grief and hundreds of residents woke up to bring the fire under control along with fire tenders called rom Mandi, Sundernagar and Beas Sutlej Link Project.

Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur, also rushed to Ner Chowk to condole the aggrieved family. Former Union Minister, Pt Sukh Ram, former Excise and Taxation Minister, Prakash Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner and other officers also rushed to the scene of accident.



Fire tenders from Mandi, Sundernagar and Beas Sutlej Link Project rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control averting a major tragedy as all structures were made of wood were highly inflammable. The shops in the town were also full of electronic goods.

Aurangabad/ Mumbai, May 30 (UNI) The Maharashtra government will provide insurance cover of Rs.50 lakh to all kinds of employees who are working to tackle the corona crisis in the state, announced Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar.
