3rd edition of Russian Film Days to be part of IFFI

Panaji, Nov 16 (UNI) After the success of its first two seasons, the third edition of Russian Film Days, a world-class film festival that showcases the best of contemporary and classic Russian cinema is back

in India.



This year the Russian Film Days will be a part of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa. The Russian Film Days commenced in Delhi from November 10 to 12 November, travelled to Mumbai from November 13 to 15 and will be concluding at IFFI from November 21 to 28.



The festival begun from Siri Fort, Delhi on November 10, with a theatrical performance dedicated to Raj Kapoor and the legendary film of the 1970 year, Mera Naam Joker.



Industry veteran Randhir Kapoor and beautiful Russian actress Kseniya Ryabinkina were the special guest for the evening. Post the opening ceremony, the Delhi audience enjoyed screenings on November 11 and 12 at DT Cinema, Saket. After Delhi, the movie marathon continued in the capital of Bollywood, Mumbai from November 13 to 15 at Cinepolis, Andheri. The viewers in Mumbai pleasured movies Attraction, Bolshoi, Fantastic journey to Oz, Life goes on, Kitchen Final Battle, Anna Karenina. Vronskiy's story.



Post Delhi and Mumbai, the festival is marching in to join The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.



The movies to be screened at IFFI Goa are Loveless in the main competition section and Hostages, Closeness, Light Up and Panfilov’s 28 in out of competition program. The festival will also be attended by honored guests from the Russian film fraternity like leading actress of Light Up movie Inga Oboldina, producer of the Closeness movie Nikolay Yankin, directors of the Panfilov’s 28 Andrey Shalopa and Kim Druzhinin, cameraman and IFFI jury’s member Vladislav Opelyants.



The producer of the festival, adviser of the Filmmakers Union of the Russian Federation, editor-in-chief of the "The Hollywood Reporter. Russian edition" magazine Maria Lemesheva said, “We try to show Russian Cinema the way it is in all the varieties, the main criterion is that films should be made at a high professional level. I am sure that Indian viewers who will get to our shows will get a diverse view of Russia and people who live in our country. This is the biggest edition of Russian Film Days as we are participating in the IFFI program. It’s a great platform to meet a lot of professionals so we look forward to new meetings, expanding ties, discussion of interesting ideas”.



The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is reckoned as one of Asia’s oldest and India’s biggest film festival. Since its inception in 1952, IFFI has aimed to /nurture and inspire Indian cinema and introduce it to the world outside as well as the many audiences that coexist in this vast and diverse country.



Goa has hosted this esteemed festival since 2004, through the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), the nodal agency appointed by the Government. Although the festival itself is organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Government of India, it is done in collaboration with the State Government of Goa and the Indian Film Industry. As each year IFFI brings with it the latest critically acclaimed films, brilliant masterclasses and workshops by renowned personalities, and visits from several celebrities in the film industry, both national and international.



The Russian Film Days is organized by LLC Cinemarus and LLC Russian Cinema with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Filmmakers Union of the Russian Federation, Russian National Fund of Copyright’s Holders Support, Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India, Directorate of Film Festivals.
