33 per cent women MPs from Odisha to enter 17th Lok Sabha

Bhubaneswar, May 25 (UNI) Odisha will be truly represented by 33 per cent women MPs in the 17th Lok Sabha as seven of the 21 Lok Saba seats from the state will be from women, five of them belonged to BJD and two from the BJP.
Out of the seven elected women MPs, five belonged to the ruling Biju Janata Dal and the rest two from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
It was only the BJD which as per the announcement by party supremo Naveen Patnaik had fielded 33 per cent women candidates in the Lok Sabha election in the state, six of them were debutant in electoral politics and the other one was a sitting MLA who contested the Lok Sabha election.
