Puducherry, Aug 14 (UNI) As many as 328 more persons tested positive for the Coronavirus taking the total active cases to 2,880 while four patients died in the Union Territory in the last 24 hours.
According to COVID-19 status released by the health department here on Friday, 310 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 17 in Karaikal region, and one in Yanam region.
As many as 181 patients were treated and discharged in the last 24 hours. 113 of them were discharged from Puducherry region,39 from Karaikal region and 29 from Yanam region.
Presently 1541 Coronavirus patients are being treated in Puducherry region,125 in Karaikal region,163 in Yanam and three in Mahe region.
Another 1048 persons being treated in home isolation.
So far 6995 persons were infected by the virus and of which 4009 patients were treated and discharged, 106 died and 2880 persons being treated (1832 in hospitals and 1048 under home isolation) in the UT.
Meanwhile, Director of Medical Services Dr Mohan Kumar in a Whatsapp posting said that a 69-year-old male was brought dead to Jipmer and tested positive for COVID while another 70-year-old man with Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension died in Jipmer due to Acute respiratory failure.
A 67-year-old man with Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension died in the government medical college due to Severe Covid Pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress and another 52-year-old woman with Diabetes Mellitus died in government medical college due to severe Covid Pneumonia and ARDS.
