Panaji, Jul 18 (UNI) Goa Minister for Science and Technology Nilesh Cabral on Thursday informed the state assembly that the government had proposed to establish three solid waste management facilities in the state having a total capacity of 600 tonnes per day.
Three facilities proposed by Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) are to come up at Cacora, Baingniuim and Verna. While Verna and Bainguinim facilities would have 250 tonnes per day capacity each, Cacora would have 100 tonnes per day capacity. He said land measuring 82,750 sqm at Cacora and 1,71,000 sqm at Bainguinim had been acquired, while allotment of land admeasuring one lakh sqm allotment at Verna was under process, Mr Cabral said in a written reply in response to a question tabled by MLA Nilkanth Halarnkar.
Currently Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) is managing 100 TPD Solid Waste Management Facility (SWMF) at Saligao, Bailing Station at Verna, Bailing Station at Cacora and Material Recovery Facility at Bicholim, he informed.
