Lord's, July 14 (UNI) Joe Root who remained unbeaten at 113 took hosts England to 322/7 a target of 323 runs before India in the 2nd ODI of the three match series here on Saturday.
Root blasted 113 off 116 balls hitting 8 fours and a six and remained not out till the end taking England towards a respectable total.
Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav again showed his magic and chipped in 3/68.
Openers Jonny Bairstow 38 (31) and Jason Roy 30 (31) added 69 runs for their first wicket partnership.
For the third wicket partnership skipper Morgan 53 (51) and Joe Root 47 (48) played an important innings and added 103 runs.
Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav was again at his best decimating three wickets with likes of Bairstow in 11th, Jason Roy 15th and skipper Eoin Morgan in 31st over.
Bairstow scored 38 of 31 balls with 5 fours and a six while Roy 40 in 42 balls hitting 4 and a six and Morgan chipped in half century 53 in 51 balls with 4 fours and a six.
Stokes in 34th over was bowled by Hardik Pandya after being caught off by Dhoni. Stokes scored
5 off 8 balls.
Umesh Yadav who took wicket of Buttler in 37th over after being caught behind the stumps by Dhoni the former captain also took his 300th ODI catch. Buttler scored 4 off 7 balls.
In 42nd over it was Rohit Sharma who grabbed catch at deep midwicket of Moeen Ali in Chahal's
spell. Ali's 13 came of in 16 balls with 1 four.
Joe Root 31 (20) and Willey contributed a useful half century 50 (31) putting 83 runs for their seventh wicket stand.
However, Willey was run out in the last ball by Dhoni of the final over in Siddatrh Kaul's spell. Willey scored 50 off 31 balls with 5 fours and one six.
Kuldeep Yadav was at his best again chipping in three important wickets of openers Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow and skipper Eoin Morgan.
While Umesh Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Chahal claimed one wicket each.
