28 percent voting recorded till 12 pm in 2nd phase of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Nov 20(UNI) Amid heavy security arrangements about 28% voting has been recorded till 12 pm on 72 assembly seats of second and last phase of elections in Chhattisgarh today.
Meanwhile two presiding officers and two SHOs have been removed from duty on charges of partiality.

According to information available, action was taken against them after investigation was conducted
into complaint against them.
Two presiding officers and two SHOs were charged with encouraging people to vote for a particular political party.
According to information received from the office of Chief Electoral Officer Chhattisgarh, an average
28% voting has been completed till 12 pm.
Ambikapur and Patthalgaon witnessed 35% voting whereas 32% voting has been recorded in Brindavangarh.
Voting that began at 7 am will last till 3 pm at two Naxal-infested polling centres.
Admitting that complaints of defect in EVMs were received from about 160 places Chief Electoral Officer said that all defective EVMs were replaced immediately.
Meanwhile main opposition party Congress and other opposition have claimed that more than 500 EVMs were defective.
Opposition parties have claimed about disruption of polling and return of many voters from polling centres.
Information was received about 21 defective EVMs in Raipur Rural assembly constituency and 8 defective EVMs in Bhatapara.

Giving information about defect in EVMs in Padaria, Kasdol and Patan, Pradesh Congress President
Bhupesh Baghel alleged that such cases were reported mostly in polling centres where position of
Congress was strong.
Enthusiasm was writ large on the faces of people across the state. Polling centres are witnessing long
queues of voters.
Enthusiasm among voters was reported mostly in tribal dominated areas. Wheel chairs have been made available in many polling centres.
About 118 Sangwari polling centres have been set up for women. All members of polling teams in Sangwari centres are women.
