Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Dec 14 (UNI) To protest against the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government’s decision to scrap the Rs 1,680 crore water pipeline project sanctioned by previous BJP-led government, as many as 26 corporators of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), which rules the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in alliance with the Sena, resigned from the posts on Saturday.
The cracks between two allies emerged on Friday, when deputy Mayor Vijay Autade of BJP submitted his resignation to AMC commissioner over the issue, after differences erupted between two alliance partner corporators for adopting a motion of thanks on Sena president Uddhav Thackeray becoming the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, in a general body meeting of AMC.
Today, a meeting was held at city BJP office this evening, when the 26 corporators submitted their resignations to the party city unit president Kisanchand Tanwani, said sources in the party.
