24 journos awarded with 42nd Matri Shree media awards

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Journalists from the field of print and electronic media, including Santu Das (UNI), Archana Kashyap (Univarta), Maqsood Alam (UNI Urdu) and Rajesh Rai (PTI) were today conferred with 42nd Matri Shree award at a function held in the city.
Former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain, who was the chief guest at the award ceremony, gave away the awards. BJP's national spokesperson Sambit Patra was also present on the occasion.
The recipient of the Awards include: Santu Das (UNI), Archana Kashyap (Univarta), Maqsood Alam (UNI Urdu), Rajesh Rai (PTI) and Manish Srivastava (PTI-Bhasha).
Altogether 24 journalists and photo-journalists were awarded.
The award included a Bharat Mata shield and citation which were conferred upon the winners today. The awardees were also presented with ''Pen", the original symbol of Indian journalism.
The Aishwarya Rai-starrer film 'Sarabjeet' was declared as the best feature film and Praveen Shankar Kapoor received award in the social service category.
Addressing the gathering, the convenor of the Matri Shree Media Award Committee and editor chief of Matri-Sawar Dinesh Sharma said that the role of the media has been a challenging task.
