Jaipur, Nov 19 (UNI) As many as 2215 candidates entered the fray for December 7 Assembly elections from various constituencies in Rajasthan till 1500 hrs on Monday, the deadline for the filing the nomination papers.
This takes the total number of candidates, who entered the fray since November 12, up to 3267.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot (Sardarapura-Jodhpur), Congress state President Sachin Pilot and his BJP rival Rajasthan Minister Yunus Khan(Tonk), former Union Ministers Dr CP Joshi(Cobg-Nathdwara), Dr Girija Vyas(Cong-Udaipur), sitting Lok Sabha MPs Dr Karan Singh Yadav(Cong-Kishangarhbas), former BJP member Harish Meena (Cong-Deoli Uniara), estranged BJP leader Jaswant Singh's MLA son Manvendra Singh(Jhalrapatan-Cong) and National Commission for Women ex-chief Mamta Sharma (BJP-Pipalda) are among many prominent personalities who entered the fray on the last day today.
Former Congress MP Scion of Kota royal family Iyaraj Singh's wife Kalpana Devi Raje(BJP-Ladpura), Scion of royal family of Bharatpur former MP Vishvendra Singh(Cong-Deeg-Kumher), scion of erstwhile Banana of Loharu, former Minister Aimadhddin Ahmad alias Durru Mian (Cong-Tizara), Scion of Bikaner royal family Siddhi Kumari(BJP-Bikaner East) were among contestants with royal back ground.
Jaipur Mayor Ashok Lahoti (BJP-Sanganer), former Jaipur MP Mahesh Joshi(Cong-Hawamahal), ex-MLA Dr Suresh Chaudhary(Cong-Bhadra), former Minister B D Kalla(Bikaner West-Cong), sitting BJP MLA Devendra Katara (rebel-DungarpurST), five time MLA Habib-ur-Rehman(Cong-Nagaur), BJP rebel two time ex-MLA Band Lal Bansiwal(IND-Dausa), rebel sitting BJP MLA Bhawani Singh Rajawat(IND-Ladpura) and Cong rebel ex MLA Dr C S Baid (IND-Taranagar) also entered the fray on final day for filing candidature.
Scrutiny of the papers will be done on Tuesday and withdrawals can be made by November 22.
