Panaji, Jul 21 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that 22 cases of thefts had taken place at ATMs during the last four years and 30 persons arrested in connection with the crime during the same period.
In a written reply in response to a question tabled by BJP MLA from Vasco Jose Luis Carlos Almeida, Mr Parrikar, who also holds Home portfolio, said four cases of theft were registered and six accused arrested in 2015, two cases of theft registered and one accused arrested in 2016, 12 cases registered and 20 accused arrested in 2017 and four cases registered and three accused arrested in 2018 (till June 30).
He said, 'Round the clock patrolling is maintained by police staff through Robot, PCR Vans, Motorcycle patrolling. Security advisories have been issued to all the banks and financial institutions regarding security measures for protection against Debit, Credit card cloning at ATM presies. The bank managers have been advised to install CCTV cameras and to keep security guard in the banks as well as ATM premises.'
He said during the last two years, two ATM theft cases had been registered at Vasco Police Station.
