Kolkata, Dec 27 (UNI) It's ATK all the way in 2016 as history repeated itself in the Indian Super League with Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) snuffing out Kerala Blasters for their second title in three season. ATK were crowned champions of the Indian Super League (ISL) after a string of gritty performances that saw them win the title for the second time in three seasons. All the hard fought draws, thrilling encounters and some dramatic finishes took the excitement of the tournament to the next level until a nerve wracking shootout in the Final aptly catered to the taste buds of football lovers all over the world. Atletico de Kolkata being the most consistent team in the tournament's short history, finished fourth in the league phase and from there went on to win the coveted silverware. Kolkata hosted ICC World T20 four matches in the Super 10s round, including the crunch India vs Pakistan match on March 19, and the grand finale of both Men and Womens on April 3 at the Eden Gardens ground. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) this year feted former India cricketer Gopal Bose with the Kartick Bose Lifetime Achievement award for the year 2015-2016. Bose was a right-handed batsman known for his wide variety of strokes. He played a single One-Day International for India and an unofficial Test match against Sri Lanka in 1973, where he scored 73 and 17. He also amassed 3757 runs from 78 first class matches and took 72 wickets with his off spinners. Representing Rest of India, Bose scored his first class career-best of 170 against Bombay in 1973-74 as he was picked for the tour of Ceylon later that season. In the first unofficial Test, he got a century in a 194-run opening partnership with Gavaskar to be picked for the tour of England but he could not find a place in the Test side. Bose served as manager of the Indian team for the U-19 World Cup in 2007-2008 and then worked as CAB coach for different age groups. CAB president Sourav Ganguly who handed over the award to the 69-year-old. The CAB also gave the Best Cricketer of the Year award to Sudip Chatterjee, while Ashok Dinda was adjudged Best Fast Bowler. The Special Award for the year was given to former International Umpire Sunit Kumar Ghosh. He had umpired seven One-Day Internationals and two Test matches. He also officiated in the World Series final in 1989. Ganguly said the annual awards platform is meant to recognise the talents who are putting in hard work every year.
