Hyderabad, Sept 10 (UNI) More than eleven years after the twin blasts rocked Gokul Chat and Lumbini Park in the city killing 42 people and wounding 50 others, a local court on Monday evening sentenced two Indian Mujahideen (IM) Terrorists to death and another was given life imprisonment.
The court sentenced Aneeq Shafique Sayeed and Md Akbar Ismail Chowdhari to death while Tariq Anjum, who was also convicted in the case for sheltering some of the accused in Delhi was sentenced to Life Imprisonment.
On September 4, the court had convicted 36-year-old Aneeq shafique Sayeed, a computer centre owner in Pune and 35-year-old Md Akbar Ismail Chowdhari, a mobile phone repairer also in Pune for setting off blasts at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat centre on August 25, 2007.
Aneeq was convicted for planting a bomb at Lumbini park, opposite Secretariat while Akbar at Dilsukhnagar which was disposed and Tariq was convicted by the court on Friday for offering shelter to the accused in Delhi during the blasts.
Two other accused, Farooq Sharfuddin and Mohammed Sadiq Israr Shaik, were acquitted for lack of evidence while three other accused, including Indian Mujahideen (IM) founder Riyaz Bhatkal, his brother Iqbal Bhatkal and Amir Reza Khan were still at large.
