20 years of empowering women

Kolkata, Mar 06 (UNI) When a woman progresses, the society progresses with her, and Bandhan Bank believes in this from its core.
Thus, most of their developmental works revolves around women empowerment, development of the girl children, their literacy, financial literacy campaign for the female borrowers etc. this is how Bandhan has been supporting and enhancing the lives of rural indian women since last 20 years, according to a statement of the bank here.
They have designed a unique programme designed for the poorest of the poor. They call it Targeting the Hard-core Poor (THP) programme. Grants (in the form of free assets, not cash) are offered to destitute women. They start generating income out of this asset and are consequently able to sustain their livelihoods. It is seen that within 18-24 months of this grant intervention, these hardcore poor beneficiaries start to graduate, uplift themselves from extreme poverty and get linked to mainstream society.
