2 held for being involved in prostitution racket, 2 victims rescued

Panaji, Nov 13 (UNI) Two persons were arrested for allegedly being in a prostitution racket and same number of victims were rescued after a raid conducted by police at Calangute in North Goa on Wednesday.
According to police, officials of Crime Branch received information from reliable sources that two persons were supplying girls for prostitution purpose at Calangute. Accordingly, on November 12, 2019, a decoy customer was arranged and police staff along with NGO Andrea Pereira laid a trap at Calangute.
When the accused came at the sport, they were rounded by police. Both the victim girls were native of Maharashtra. They were lodged in State Protective Home, Merces, for safe custody.
The accused were Akshay (27), native of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, and Tophik (27), Curti, Ponda, Goa. They were arrested unders sections 370(3) IPC, Section 4, 5 of Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act.
Further investigation was underway, police added.
