2 day National Symposium on Advances in Ultrasonic’s and Material Research ended

Dharamshala, Nov 10 (UNI) An essential need was to focus on
pollution free energy resources for a satisfying increasing energy
demands and photovoltaic’s were presented as one such important
Prof. Vikram Kumar from Department of Physics, IIT Delhi, President,
Ultrasonics Society of India (USI) stated this while speaking during
two day 22nd National Symposium on Advances in Ultrasonics and
Materials Research organized by Department of Physics and Astronomical
Science, Central University of Himachal Pradesh in collaboration with
Ultrasonic Society of India which culminated today.
Prof. Vikram mainly emphasised about applications of photovoltaic’s in
energy harvesting light energy from sun and discussed the challenges
associated with its research in India and worldwide.
Prof. HR Sharma, Pro Vice Chancellor, CUHP, inaugurated the ceremony
by lighting the lamp. Prof. Vikram Kumar and Prof. Rajaram Yadav were
honoured on the occasion .
Prof. Rajaram Yadav, Vice-Chancellor of VBS Purvanchal University,
U.P. spoke about “Applications of Ultrasonics in Nanotechnology and
Biology”. He said that ultrasonics have wide applications in
Nanotechnology like synthesis and characterization of nano materials.
He said that Ultrasonics have also immense applications in medical
field like Ultrasonic surgery that can replace XRD in medical science
and ultrasound that can diagnosis the health of baby before its birth.
Ultrasonics uses high frequency sound waves to produce images on a
screen of internal organs, vessels and tissues.
Around eighty eminent scientists and researchers from all over the
country participated in the conference. .Dr. BC Chauhan, Dean,
Dr.OSKS.Sastri and Dr. Padmnabh Rai, all from CUHP were the chairman,
co-chairman and the convener for the conference respectively.
Prof. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, Vice Chancellor, CUHP, was the chief
guest for the valedictory function. He presented the awards for best
poster and best oral presentation. Nishant Kumar, Kiran Soni and R.
Aggarwal from Thapar University Patiala got the Award for the best
oral paper Alok Kumar Verma and RR. Yadav from University of
Allahabad got the best oral paper in field of material science,
AK Kumar, Prabhu Rajagopal and K. Balasubramaniam from Centre of NDE,
IIT Madras got the best poster in Ultrasonic Field.
VK Singh, RS. Tiwari, Anchal Srivastva from Institute of Science, BHU
got the best poster in material science, Chinmaya Tripathi, Devraj
Singh and Rita Paikare from Ravenshaw University, Cuttak got second
best poster in Ultrasonics and Nitika Devi, Rajesh K. Singh, AK
Jaiswal from CUHP got second best poster in material science.
