2 commit suicide in drought-hit Marathwada

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Aug 11 (UNI) Two farmer suicide cases reported in Osmanabad and Hingoli district of the drought-affected Marathwada region during the last 24 hours.
As per the official sources, more than 450 farmers committed suicide this year in eight districts of the Marathwada region so far due to the infertility, scanty rainfall, mounting debt of the banks.
Osmanabad district reports stated that, a distressed 60-year-old farmer, Sukhdev Gaikwad of Junoni village committed suicide by hanging himself on Friday as his crop was damaged due to long dry spell.
In anoter case, a 55-year-old farmer, Chanduji Mule hailing from Rajapur village in Vasmat taluka in Hingoli district committed suicide by hanging himself at a tree.
A case was registered and further investigation was on, police added.
