This incident comes on a day when a 70-year-old man mistaken as a braid chopper died this morning after being hit by a brick outside his house in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.
A police spokesperson said that around 1900 hrs, one more frenzied mob caught two civilians on charges of being braid cutters at Chopan Mohalla, Ishber in Srinagar.
“Timely intervened by the police saved the lives of both the civilians, though both were beaten to pulp,” he said.
“Both the civilians turned out to be Samir Ahmad Khan, a resident of Ahmad Nagar and Tahir Ahmad Beigh, a resident of Tulwari, Gojwara.
“People are again requested not to resort to vigilantism and cooperate with police in this matter,” he added.
