19 held from gambling den in Kolhapur, property worth Rs 12 lakh seized

Kolhapur, Sep 9 (UNI) The Karveer police on Sunday arrested 19 people in a raid on a gambling den at Pirwadi village in Karveer tehsil of this district and seized properties worth Rs 12 lakh from there including a car, 11 motorcycles, mobile handsets, and TV among others.
Acting on a tip off, a Karveer police team swung into action and raided a house at Pirwadi village this morning, where 19 people were allegedly playing a card game, called "Tin-Patti", and confiscated properties collectively worth Rs 12 lakh from there including a car and 11 motorcycles amounting to Rs 9.90 lakh, 22 mobile handsets aggregating Rs 1.21 lakh, cash of Rs 86,350 and TV set among others, police said.
An offence under sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act as well sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act.
