18 fishermen held for fishing illegally inside Gahirmatha sanctuary

Kendrapara, Nov 21 (UNI) The forest personnel on Wednesday arrested 18 fishermen and seized two fishing boats from their possession for catching fish inside the prohibited area of Gahirmatha marine sanctuary.
The forest personnel engaged in sea patrolling had noticed two mechanised fishing boats inside the prohibited area of Gahirmatha marine sanctuary near Babubali coast. They intercepted the boats and arrested 18 fishermen. The Forest personnel also seized 70 kg of fish catch,10 fishing nets, 2 fish finder machines, 2 VHF sets, 2 GPS sets from the arrested fishermen.
All the arrested fishermen were later produced before the JMFC court of Rajnagar which remanded them into jail custody,
