16-yr-old Tripura girl prevents her marriage with institutional support

Agartala, Jan 17 (UNI) A 16–year–old tribal girl in South Tripura has broken her own child marriage through institutional intervention, which occurred in Siddhinagar area under PR Bari police station in Belonia.
According to the report, Niralata Tripura, a Class X student at Baganbari High School, was unable to convince her parents to cancel her marriage, so she sought help from the Balika Manch operating in her school.
The Balika Manch in-charge promptly contacted Childline authorities, who immediately intervened and rescued Niralata. She was then brought before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in accordance with the necessary procedure.
