New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI): The Centre has sanctioned 157 new medical colleges in the last seven years with an investment of over Rs 17,000 crores, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.
On completion, nearly 16,000 undergraduate medical seats would be added to these colleges wherein 6,500 seats are already functional at 64 new medical colleges, it added.
Meanwhile, Rs 2,451.1 crore is also provided to state government or central government medical college for up-gradation of existing infrastructure and addition of further seats.
