1500 metric tonnes of sulphuric acid removed from Sterlite plant

Thoothukudi, Jun 23 (UNI) The district administration on Saturday claimed to have removed nearly 1500 metric tonnes of Sulphuric acid so far from the sealed Sterlite Copper Smelter Plant.

Talking to reporters, District Collector Sandeep Nandhuri said as many as 85 tanker lorries were used to transport the sulphuric acid from one of the storage tank inside the plant that developed leakage on June 17. The acid was sent to industries in Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem and northern parts of the state. Remaining acid would be removed in a day, he said.
