150,000 students to benefit from enhanced skills programme of MongoDB

Bengaluru, Sep 10 (UNI) MongoDB, Inc. has announced a transformative expansion of its MongoDB for Academia program in India, a move that will directly benefit over 150,000 students. This expansion comes at a critical time as the country faces an anticipated demand for around six million digital roles by 2028, highlighting the need for skilled professionals in a rapidly evolving tech landscape.
The new initiative includes a landmark partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), under the Ministry of Education. Supported by SmartBridge's SmartInternz platform, the collaboration aims to provide students with virtual internships and hands-on experience using MongoDB Atlas, the leading multi-cloud developer data platform.
In addition, MongoDB is joining forces with GeeksforGeeks, a major resource hub for computer science in India. This partnership will make the MongoDB Developer Learning Path available to GeeksforGeeks' 25 million registered users, offering them enhanced opportunities to acquire crucial skills in modern database technologies.
Since its launch in September 2023, the MongoDB for Academia program has made significant progress, providing comprehensive training, curriculum resources for educators, and certifications. This program seeks to address the urgent skills gap in India’s tech sector, where a staggering one million engineers with advanced AI capabilities will be needed over the next three years, according to the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM).
“We stand at the cusp of a technological renaissance driven by AI and modern innovations. To harness this potential, our developers must be equipped with cutting-edge skills. Our partnership with MongoDB is a crucial step towards this goal,” said Dr. Buddha Chandrasekhar, CEO of Anuvadini AI and Chief Coordinating Officer, AICTE.
The collaboration with AICTE and SmartBridge will introduce a virtual internship program through SmartInternz, aligned with the government’s Skill India Initiative. This program will offer 60 hours of immersive learning, including bootcamps, hands-on projects, and simulated corporate environments, aimed at bridging the skills gap and preparing students for the tech industry's demands.
Amarender Katkam, Founder and CEO of SmartBridge, highlighted the growing interest in modern database technologies, stating, “Our platform is brimming with interest in advanced technologies like MongoDB. By providing students with essential knowledge, we aim to produce job-ready candidates who meet the needs of India’s tech industry.” UNI BDN SSP
