14th Hero MTB Himalaya biking race to be flagged off on Sep 27

Shimla, Sep 12(UNI) Additional Chief Secretary Tourism Ram Subhag Singh said here Monday that Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association (HASTPA) in association with Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation would organise 14th Hero Himalaya 2018 from 27th September to 6th October, 2018.

He informed that the race will be flagged off on the World Tourism Day 27th September from historic Ridge Shimla and will conclude at Dharamshala on 6th October, 2018. He also said that Hero MTB Himalaya is Asia's oldest and among the world toughest cross country marathon style MTB race.
He further said that 75 top ranked cyclists from 14 countries around the World are expected to participate.

President HASTPA Mohit Sood said that the biking race would cover 650 Km in eight stages and nine days. He said that HASTPA has pioneered the advent of adventure of Sports of India with mountain biking which has put Himachal Himalaya at the forefront of mountain biking culture in the country.

Secretary Youth Services and Sports Dinesh Malhotra, Director Tourism Rakesh Kanwar and Senior officers of other departments participated in the meeting.
