Kabul, May 29(UNI) Afghanistan's Ministry of Defense on Friday confirmed that at least 14 Afghan Border Force personnel were killed in an attack by the Taliban in the eastern province of Paktia on Thursday evening.
Tolonews quoted the ministry's statement saying that the attack was carried out at the Dand-e-Patan district of Paktia province in violation of the bi lateral ceasefire declaration made by the Taliban and the Afghan government just before Eid ul Fitr.
The statement also claimed that the Afghan forces successfully repelled the ambush and that the Taliban suffered heavy casualties.
