Shimla/Nahan, Jan 5 (UNI) At least 11 people were killed and 12 sustained injuries in three separate road accidents in the state, police said on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner, Sirmaur Mr Lalit Jain said that seven people, including six school children, died when their school bus fell into a deep gorge in Sirmaur district on Saturday morning.
The bus was carrying children of DAV Public School Dadahu when the incident took place at Khadkuli, about 10 km away from Dadahu.
While five children died on the spot, one succumbed to his injuries in Medical college Nahan while eleven other injured students are under treatment at Medical College Nahan.
Mr Jain said that six critically injured children were referred to PGI Chandigarh. Injured includes Sangrah Nitish (10) from billage Rajana, Abhishek (8) and Sanjana (6) (brother-sister). Adharsha Sarma (7), Samir(5) and Kartik (14) and Ramswroop (40) driver.
All medical facilities are being provided to the injured students for free. He said that SDM Sangrah Rakesh Dhiman would look into the the accident as government have given magistrate probe in the matter.
In a another road accident occured under Theog Police station near Dehachoki a speeded pick up truck hit a tree killing three pedestrians on the spot. The deceased were on the way from Chopal carrying Potato seed when the vehicle hit the tree. Deceased were identified as Dinesh and Pratap of resident of Satog village of Theog and Shiv Ram of Majgaon vilalge and Rajgarh subdivision of Sirmaur district.
State Director General of Police SR Mardi said that during last year state recorded 3118 road accidents which took 1201 lives and sustained major injuries to 5541 people.
The state also recorded about 3120 accidents which almost took similar number of lives in 2017
