11 dead as vehicle falls into Saryu canal in Gonda, CM expresses condolences

Gonda, Aug 3 (UNI) At least 11 people died when a vehicle veered off the road and plunged into the Saryu canal in UP's Gonda district this morning. The vehicle was carrying 15 passengers, most of whom were members of the same family. They were on their way to the Prithvinath temple to offer water as part of a religious ritual.
The accident occurred near the Sihaganj-Khargupur road under the jurisdiction of the Motiganj police station. Local residents immediately alerted the police. Upon receiving the information, police teams rushed to the spot and with the help of villagers retrieved the bodies from the canal.
The victims include men, women and children.

Light clouds improves mercury across Himachal

Shimla, Dec 8 (UNI) A light sheet of clouds drifting across the Himachal sky overnight improved the mercury on Monday, resulting in a marginal rise in minimum temperatures across several parts of the state.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, most stations recorded minimum temperatures that were normal to above normal by 2–4°C.
