''I am happy to say that during the last two and half years, we have sanctioned 16,500 km of doubling or tripling. During the previous 70 years, it was just about 20,000 km. During the last five years average of capex of investment was Rs 35,000 crore. But, had that investment been made in this, the situation may have been as bad as it is,'' he said.
