'Toilet ek Prem Katha' earns Rs 20 cr on I-Day, collects Rs 89 cr in 6 days

New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) Continuing it's strong run at the box office, the Akshay Kumar starrer 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' earned Rs 20 crore on Independence Day holiday, taking its total collections to Rs 89 crore in its first six days, trade sources said today. The film, which had earned Rs 50 cr in its opening weekend, saw a huge jump in its collections on the Independence Day holiday, when it collected Rs 20 crore. It collected a further Rs 6 crore yesterday. The huge collection on Independence Day has taken the film's earnings to Rs 89.45 crore in just six days,, taking it to the fourth spot when it comes to the best collections for an entire week in 2017. While Baahubali 2 [Hindi] had opening week earnings of Rs 247 crore, Raees earned Rs 109.01 crore and Tubelight Rs 106.86 crore in their opening week. Despite being made on a small scale, the movie has managed to go past bigger films like Kaabil, Jolly LLB 2, Badrinath Ki Dulhania and of course the biggie, Jab Harry Met Sejal. The figures are remarkable for a film with a budget of 18 crore, trade sources said. With the film having earned Rs 89 crore already, trade experts feel that it could easily cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the opening week. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's Swacch Bharat Angolan, ' Toilet ek Prem Katha ' features Akshay and Bhumi Pednekar in key roles. The film has been on a strong run since its release on August 11, earning Rs 15 crore on its opening day and Rs 50 crore in its opening weekend. UNI AR SB 1344
