#StandWithHer panel stresses gender equality must begin at home

Hyderabad, July 11 (UNI) Gender equality must begin within families by promoting shared responsibilities, emotional honesty and mutual respect, speakers asserted at the fifth edition of the #StandWithHer panel discussion series held at WeHub, Dr B R Ambedkar University, here on Saturday.
The discussion, themed "Equality, Care & Emotional Honesty in Families – Gender Equality and Patriarchal Attitudes," brought together experts from academia, law enforcement, journalism, cinema and social activism to deliberate on how patriarchal attitudes continue to shape gender roles and family dynamics.
Director General of the Women Safety Wing, Charu Sinha, IPS, observed that unwritten social norms continue to dictate gender roles in households. "It is a rule book no one has written, but everyone follows," she remarked, adding that greater awareness and dialogue could help bring about meaningful social change.
