'Selling of coconuts was not for publicity': Pratima Coutinho

Panaji, Jan 31 (UNI) The Mahila Congress in Goa on Wednesday said that the coconut agitation launched by its members in the state recently was not for the publicity but the issue was taken up because of concern for Goan sisters and brothers.
Addressing a press conference at party state headquarter in the city, Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress President Pratima Coutinho said,''Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in a public meeting at Bicholim said that Mahila Congress members were selling the coconuts for publicity. But I would like to say that we do not require publicity. The whole of Goa knows who we are.''
''We took up the sensitive issue because of our Goan sisters and brothers. Coconut prices were rising and people asked us to take up the issue. We took it up for the Goans. But it appears that the Chief Minister is disturbed due to the actions. If he is disturbed and frustrated then he would not have gone out and spoken like this,'' she said.
