Ambassa(Tripura), Oct 16(UNI) Former chief minister and leader of opposition in Tripura assembly, Manik Sarkar today urged the people to hit the roads in protest against the misrule and atrocities of BJP.
He was delivering speech as the chief orator in a mass meeting in support of their demands in the bordering town of Kamalpur in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai here this morning. Besides Mr Sarkar, former MP Jitendra Choudhury, MLA Ratan Bhowmik, MLA Sudhan Das and CPI(M) State Secretary Goutam Das attended the meeting after they participated in a rally.
In his trademark style, Mr. Sarkar reiterated, "The BJP governments, both at the centre and at the state, are running the administration at their will. The pathos and needs of rank and file have no value to them. At the same time the party is trying to demolish democratic atmosphere by suffocating the voice of opposition. Now, people have realized the real face of the rulers. And from this perspective the left front has taken up seven-point demands to hit the roads nationwide. As a part of this programme we have assembled today. It is not just a fight for some demands. It is the fight against the atrocities of the BJP and their misrule. It is for Kamalpur, Tripura and the entire nation. It is high time that people come take to the roads in protest against each and every misrule, against the befooling in the name of vision document and not realizing the assurances".
