'Poster Boys' is full-fledged family film : Shreyas Talpade

By Sanya Pandey New Delhi, Sept 6 (UNI) The posters of the film and its trailer may have created an impression of it being a sex comedy but actor-turned director Shreyas Talpade says that his debut directorial venture 'Poster Boys' is a full-fledged family film. Talking to UNI, Shreyas, who was in the town to promote his directorial debut, along with lead actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol , said,'Our film is a full-fledged family film.' It has got a U/A certification. In fact, I can assure that people won’t find anything vulgar in the film. I’m sure that they won’t be embarrassed to see this film with their families. There are no cuts in the movie by the censor board.' On his experience of turning director, Shreyas says that as a filmmaker he became completely non-judgemental about other directors and their work. "Well the approach to acting has not changed from my approach to direction. But it has taught me a lot of things. First of all as a person and as a filmmaker, I became completely non-judgemental about other directors and their work. Also, when a director tries to step into the actor's shoes, he starts fumbling initially but then you try to get into the mould and whatever you are learning you try to just incorporate all of it into your performances." When asked about the experience of directing himself, Shreyas said,"Initially I couldn't able to focus into the acting part because I was continuously thinking about the other things associated with it. Then I had Sunny Paaji who was saying me 'Araam se ho jaega. Chill maar'. So I decided to focus on it when I am in front of the camera. On working with Sunny Deol, he said, 'when you see Sunny Paaji doing a particular scene, its a different out of body kind of experience wherein that person you have grown up watching films and idolised him all your life and suddenly that person is performing right in front of you and that person comes up with certain improvisations and value additions so that as an actor you are watching but more as a director you are watching.' If direction and production were always part of his career plan, the actor said the direction was at some point. "Production was something Subhash ji pushed me into with the first Marathi film which we did in 2007 and I enjoyed doing that. But direction is something I was thinking of doing at a later stage," he said. Shreyas said he loved the subject of the movie when he heard it. "It was a very instinct reaction. A friend of mine has told me there was such an incident happened with three coolies in a Maharashtrian village. I loved the idea and felt that it was a very novel kind of subject which I hadn't seen in the films. Thats why I said lets make it in Marathi," he said. Co-produced and directed by Shreyas Talpade, Poster Boys will see the actor making his directorial debut. The film features Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Shreyas himself in the lead roles and Samiksha Bhatnagar. The film is an official remake of the 2014 Marathi hit 'Poshter Boyz' which Shreyas had produced and acted in. It is inspired by a real life incident about three porters who found their pictures on a vasectomy poster. Produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, the movie is slated to release on September 8. UNI PY AR SV SNU 1312
