Kolkata, Mar 21 (UNI) ' Poetry plays a vital role in preserving and transmitting oral traditions, ' opined Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday.
Taking to her Twitter handle on the occasion of World Poetry Day, she said, ' Today is #WorldPoetryDay. Poetry plays a vital role in preserving and transmitting oral traditions. It is all about expression. Poetry depicts life, relations, thoughts and more. In my spare time, I also write a few poems. Sharing with you one of my favourite poems, penned by me. '
In another Tweet on the occasion of World Puppetry Day, Ms Banerjee said, ' #WorldPuppetryDay Putul Naach (Puppet dance) is a rich tradition of #Bangla. In 2015, our govt had dedicated a museum to showcase state’s rich art of puppetry. It displays the work on relevant social themes by about 20 contemporary puppeteers, belonging to backward classes. '
