'No response' to J&K Panthers Party's 'bandh call', leaders detained

Jammu, Dec 7 (UNI) The 'Jammu Bandh' call of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party on Saturday evoked 'no response,' while the leaders were also detained by police, before the protest march here.
The shutdown call was to protest snapping of mobile internet service and start of poll post at Sarore in Samba.
Mobile internet was snapped in Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, to bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.
Hundreds of activists of JKNPP this morning assembled outside the Press Club of Jammu, to take out a protest march, but heavy contingent of police and security forces deployed on the spot, foiled their attempt.
Led by JKNPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia, the agitators were also supported by the activists of different political, non-political and social bodies.
Shouting anti-government slogans, the protestors were demanding restoration of mobile internet service and withdrawal of Sarore Toll Post in Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Vijaypur in Samba.
The protesting leaders were taken into detention by the police and shifted to the District Police Lines.
Meanwhile, the shops remained open and the transport was also seen plying on the road.
Schools and colleges also witnessed good attendance.
