New Delhi, Sep 23 (UNI) 'Mushairas', symposiums of Urdu poetry, themed at teachings and principles of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, will be organised across the country to commemorate the sesquicentennial of 'Bapu'.
Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday said the first symposium will be held on October 6 at New Delhi’s Dr Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath from 1500 onwards and see renowned Urdu poets performing various programmes based on harmony, national integrity, democratic values, non-violence and global peace.
Mr Naqvi in a statement said that these events will spread message and principles of Mahatma Gandhi, and strengthen social harmony and brotherhood in the society.
Famous Urdu poets, including like Gulzar Sahab, Janab Wasim Barelvi, Janab Haseeb Soz, Janab Manzar Bhopali, poetess Naseem Nikhat, Janab Iqbal Ashar, Janab Surendra Shajar, among others, have been invited to perform in these programmes, to be organised by Ministry of Minority Affairs.
Besides Delhi, the events will be held in Mumbai, Lucknow, Chandigarh,Ahmedabad, Bangaluru, Ranchi and other cities in coming days.
The Centre has decided to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bapu and spread his legacy among the people at the national and international level.
