'Mission Zero' campaign launched in Thane to root out corona

Thane, Jul 13 (UNI) Maharahtra Urban Development and District Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday launched the 'Mission Zero Campaign' in the city to chase away coronavirus.
He also started the Covid-19 Rapid Antigen tests in the city at a function held at the civic headquarters here.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Shinde said that if the fight against corona was to be successful, it needs to be chased honestly and its chain is broken.
"The 'Mission Zero' campaign is launched to intensify the fight against corona. This requires a large number of people to be evacuated to the quarantine centre. If this happens, patients will be examined and treated in a timely manner and we will be able to reduce the death rate," he said.
The Minister further said that the Thane Municipal Corporation has ordered about 1 lakh Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Kits which will make available test results in just 30 minutes and this will help to reach and treat the Covid suspects in a timely manner.
Suspected Covid patients will be tested mainly through hotspots, restricted areas, slums and densely populated areas of the city through these Rapid Antigen Kits, he said.
Mr Shinde added that it does not matter if the number of suspects increases but patients need to be found and treated at the right time.
Also present on the occasion were Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, Thane Mayor Naresh Mhaske, MP Rajan Vichare and Thane Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma.
The 'Mission Zero' campaign -- a joint effort of Desh Apanaye, an NGO, MCHI-Credai and TMC --
will be run under the guidance of Shantilal Mutha, president, Indian Jain Association.
Under this campaign, 9 mobile dispensaries will be functioning in 9 ward committees through which fever patients as well as corona-like patients will be examined.
The Kalyan town in the district is also replicating the measures taken in Thane and Municipal commissioner Dr Vijay Suryavanshi also announced 'Chase of the virus' programme in the town.
