New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Continuing the attack against Narendra Modi government over the functioning of Public Section Undertakings (PSUs), former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday criticised the government's move to merge state owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL).
Posting a news report on the Cabinet decision over MTNL-BSNL merger, Mr Gandhi tweeted, Step 1: Merge, step 2: mismanage, step 3: show mega losses, step 4: sell cheap to crony capitalist"
Earlier in the day, the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also approved revival plan of state owned telecom bodies BSNL and MTNL.
Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said spectrum of 4G will be allocated to the Telecom Public sector enterprises and also said that attractive VRS packages to be offered.
The Minister had also ruled out privatisation of the MTNL and the BSNL.
On Tuesday, the former Congress president had criticised the government's reported plan to disinvest the PSU, the Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR).
"Highly profitable and strategic, the Container Corporation (CONCOR) is a PSU jewel that some of the PM's greedy crony capitalist friends are hungry for and the government plans to sell", Mr Gandhi had tweeted after a meeting with the CONCOR Employee Union.
