New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) The BJP on Monday stepped up attack on Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his utterances on JeM chief Masood Azhar and referring to him as 'ji', saying such gestures in effect surpasses all limits of shame.
"Today Mr Rahul Gandhi has passed on limits of shame.....," BJP leader and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here minutes after the video of Congress president's speech went viral on social media and TV news channels.
"In India, 'ji' is used to denote respect. Today, he has called the global terrorist Masood Azhar as 'Azhar ji'," Mr Prasad said.
"This has not happened by accident or a slip. This has happened as part of a design. Earlier, Digvijaya Singh has called Osama bin Laden -- Osamaji. He had called Hafiz Saeed as Hafiz saheb," he said adding the JeM chief is the same terrorist who master minded various terror attacks including Pulwama attack.
The Union Minister said - "While India is keen that Masood Azhar is declared as global terrorist by UNSC, now Pakistan will show this statement of Rahul Gandhi and say Azhar is treated with respect by Opposition leader in India".
Meanwhile, another Union Minister and BJP lawmaker from West Bengal Babul Supriyo has tweeted saying: "Rahul Gandhi will raise random allegations to disrespect the nation's Prime Minister but will show respect to a terrorist like Masood Azhar, that's Rahul Gandhi for you".
"If they show so much respect in open then wonder what all they do in private," remarked Mr Supriyo.
