‘Live for something rather than die for nothing!’

BHOPAL: Irrespective of whether you’re a full-blooded combat veteran or a die-hard military buff, you would have been unequivocally impressed at the Madhya Pradesh capital’s Shaurya Smarak where the gallant men in olive green organised an Equipment and Army Band Display as a precursor to Independence Day celebrations with the noble objective of paying homage to martyrs.

A variety of weapons were showcased, martial tunes played by the Brass and Pipe bands. To add to the patriotic fervour, a Jazz band also performed. The August 12 event culminated with a symphony by all bands present.

‘Nische kar apni jeet karon’ (resolved to win) was the sentiment writ large at the memorial as visitors were left spellbound by the bands’ mesmerising performance. Spectators thronged the Mukta Rangmanch to witness the splendour of the ensembles playing soldierly and nationalistic tunes. Impressive footfall was also recorded at the Theatre of War where a variety of weapons and equipment were exhibited. Schoolchildren and youngsters were observed expressing keen interest. It goes sans saying that the event invoked immense patriotic fervour among commoners.
