‘International Ayurveda Day’ will be reality soon: Shripad Naik

Panaji, Oct 14 ( UNI) Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik on Sunday said that his ministry has recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement with World Health Organization (WHO) to make Ayurveda, a global medicine system and as part of this agreement soon ‘International Ayurveda Day’ will be celebrated like ‘International Yoga Day’.
Speaking at the inaugural function of International seminar on ‘Globalisation of Ayurveda’ , he said after the formation of AYUSH ministry, Indian medicinal systems are becoming popular globally. International Yoga Day is celebrated enthusiastically on June 21 at the international level.
So far 14 countries have started AYUSH Universities and 50 countries are with information centers on Ayurveda. The Memorandum of Agreement with World Health Organization (WHO) will boost the traditional medicinal system to become global very soon, he said. At present ministry of AYUSH has a MoU with 12 countries, the number will be increased in near future, he added.
