'Hunar Haat' is good platform for artisans & it would bring prosperity to them: LS Speaker

New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday appreciated the 'Hunar Haat', an initiative of Ministry of Minority Affairs, saying the ministry is providing a good platform for the artisans and it would bring prosperity to their lives.

Mr Birla was received by the Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. He also visited many stalls and interacted with many artisans who have come across the nation.

Talking to reporters, the LS Speaker said, "The Ministry of Minority Affairs are providing a good platform to craftsmen working in rural areas across the country. This will give these artisans the opportunity and inspiration to enrich both their art and life."

Mr Birla appreciated the Ministry and its officials for taking such initiative.

The ten-day 'Hunar Haat' programme was started on February 13 with the theme of 'Kaushal Ko Kaam'. Artisans and craftsmen from across the country are participating in the programme. The half of the participants are women. On every evening, cultural programmes are also being organised.

Mr Naqvi said, "My department is doing a historic task of preserving the magnificent heritage of skilled people from every corner of the country and providing them a national and international market so that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of providing opportunity and market to the country's heritage is realized."

The next 'Hunar Haat' will be organised between February 29 and March 8 in Ranchi, while Chandigarh to host it from March 13 to 22.
