‘Guppy’ on city tour to promote boxing championship

Guwahati, Nov 13 (UNI) With the 2017 AIBA Youth Women’s World Boxing Championship just a week away, ‘Guppy’ is on a tour of host city Guwahati to promote the event.

The ten-day long promotional activity will see the official mascot ‘Guppy’ taking a tour of the city and visit schools, residential colonies and important hubs of Guwahati to raise momentum about the mega-event.

Guppy interacted with the locals and indulged them in exciting contests, with a boxing ring also set and Guppy throwing an open challenge to the fans for a bout.

“The promotional activity is crucial for the success of the tournament. We want to create a euphoric environment in the city and want to reach out to every single individual in the city,” Debojjo Maharshi, Chairman, Marketing Commission, BFI said here.

“Through this promotional event, we also want to the urge the residents to come forward and extend a warm welcome to the athletes and dignitaries and make sure that they have a wonderful stay here,” he added.

The week-long fiesta will also hand out gift vouchers and prizes to winners of different contests on social media handles of BFI.
